Voice Collect Privacy Policy

Effective date: 2 July 2026

Who we are: H3lix AI Ltd (“Helix”, “we”), a Delaware corporation. Mailing address: 1301 N Broadway St, #32355, Los Angeles, CA 90012. Contact: privacy@helix.id.

This policy explains how we handle your information when you record a voice sample through Voice Collect (voice-collect.app), whether you arrive through Amazon Mechanical Turk, an institution link, or a direct invitation.

Who can participate

You must be 18 or older and a resident of the United States. Residents of Illinois are not eligible to participate at this time. By submitting a recording you confirm you meet these requirements.

What we collect

When you submit a recording, we store:

  • Your voice recording — a short audio clip of you reading numbers aloud, plus the specific numbers you were shown, the recording’s date and time, its length, and its audio sample rate.
  • Demographic details you provide — your self-reported age and gender.
  • Device descriptors — your operating system, browser, whether the device is mobile, screen size, timezone, language setting, your browser’s user-agent string, and a general description of your microphone type. These describe the device the sample was recorded on; we do not store any persistent device identifier.
  • If you participate through Mechanical Turk — your Amazon Worker ID, Assignment ID, and HIT ID, which we need to pay you, prevent duplicate submissions, and locate your recording if you ask us to delete it.
  • A submission code — a random identifier generated for your recording. Mechanical Turk participants receive a completion code derived from it.

We do not collect your name, email address, or contact details, and we do not ask you to create an account. Our application does not record or store your IP address or your precise location. Your device’s timezone setting is stored as one of the device descriptors listed above. Like any website, our hosting provider (Vercel) sees IP addresses transiently in routine server logs with short retention, but we do not persist them.

Your voice recording is biometric data

We treat your voice recording as biometric data and handle it accordingly. Recordings and the details above are collected for one purpose: to train, evaluate, and improve Helix’s voice-based age-estimation models, including balancing the dataset so the models perform fairly across ages, genders, and recording devices. Age-related features are extracted from recordings as part of model training.

We do not use your recording to identify you, we do not sell it, and we do not use it for advertising or any purpose other than the one stated here.

How your data is stored

Recordings are uploaded over an encrypted connection and stored encrypted in access-controlled cloud storage (Amazon Web Services), accessible only to our engineering and machine-learning teams.

Service providers

We use a small number of service providers to operate Voice Collect, each acting on our instructions under contract:

  • Amazon Web Services — cloud storage for recordings.
  • Vercel — application hosting.
  • PostHog — anonymous funnel analytics that tell us where participants abandon the process. We do not send your recording, your age or gender, or your Worker ID to PostHog, and PostHog is configured to discard IP addresses rather than store them.

If you participate through Mechanical Turk, Amazon separately processes your MTurk activity under its own agreements with you; we do not receive your name or contact details from Amazon.

We do not sell your data or share it with anyone else, except if required by law, in which case we will disclose only what is legally required.

How long we keep your data

We keep recordings only as long as they are needed for the training and evaluation purpose described above. We review the dataset at least every 24 months and permanently delete recordings that are no longer needed. Deletion removes the audio file and all stored details associated with it.

Deletion and your rights

You can ask us to delete your recording and associated data at any time, without giving a reason. Email privacy@helix.id:

  • Mechanical Turk participants: include your completion code (VC-XXXXXXXX). The code is unique to your recording and lets us locate and verify it without collecting anything further from you.
  • Other participants: include the approximate date and time of your recording and the device you used, and we will work with you to locate it.

We will delete the recording and its associated data within 30 days of a verified request and confirm when it is done. Deletion does not affect any payment you have already received.

Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under your state’s privacy laws. Contact us at privacy@helix.id to exercise them.

Children

Voice Collect is for adults only. We do not knowingly collect recordings from anyone under 18. If we learn that a recording came from someone under 18, we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will post the updated version at this address with a new effective date. If a change materially affects how your recording is used, we will not apply it to recordings collected before the change.
